Top 5 Carpooling and Ridesharing Apps on iOS in Kenya Q4 2024

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the carpooling and ridesharing app market in Kenya saw varied performance across the top five iOS applications, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Bolt: Request a Ride experienced a notable increase in weekly downloads, beginning at approximately 1.7K at the start of October and peaking at around 3K by mid-December. The app’s weekly active users also showed a similar upward trend, rising from about 85K to a high of 115K before settling back to 84K by the end of December.

Faras maintained a steady download rate with some fluctuations, starting at 1.3K and reaching a peak of 1.9K in mid-November. However, by the end of December, downloads had decreased to just over 1K.

Uber - Request a ride saw a gradual increase in downloads, beginning at 1.2K and reaching 1.8K by mid-December. The app's active users mirrored this trend, rising from 67K to a peak of 76K in late November before ending the quarter at 67K.

Grab: Taxi Ride, Food Delivery had a modest start with downloads under 200, but saw a slight increase to over 300 by late December. Active users also grew steadily from 2.3K to 3.1K by the end of the quarter.

Lastly, Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver had a consistent performance in downloads, starting around 120 and peaking at 178 in late December. Active users maintained a steady growth, ending the quarter at approximately 1.7K.
